Tension prevailed in Allagadda on Wednesday after a youth allegedly attempted to rape a minor girl by taking her to an isolated location.

Police said that the girl raised an alarm, prompting the locals to rush to the spot. They reportedly caught the youth, beat him, and handed him over to Allagadda police.

A case has been registered under the POCSO Act and further investigation is under way, police said.
