Gurugram offices, schools advised to 'work from home' amid heavy rain, waterlogging

The order called on all corporate offices, government and private schools and institutions to guide their employees, staff to work from home on Tuesday.

The District Disaster Management authority in Gurugram has issued a work form home advisory for Tuesday – August 25. This notice comes after heavy rain lashed the NCR region on Monday, causing massive traffic snarls and waterlogging.

"In view of the heavy rainfall in Gurugram on 24 August 2026, there is a possibility of waterlogging and traffic congestion at various locations across the district," said the notice issued by the deputy commissioner.

The order called on all corporate offices, government and private schools and institutions to guide their employees, staff to work from home on August 25, 2026.

"The advisory will help reduce traffic congestion and facilitate smooth repair and maintenance works on roads and drains by civic agencies," the notice added further.

Heavy rain lashes Gurgaon

On Monday, the Indian Meteorological Department issued an orange alert for Haryana's Gurugram and Faridabad areas for heavy rain.

As the skies cleared, the alert was later downgraded to yellow for the entire Delhi-NCR region. The intense spells of rain on Monday inundated several arterial roads, residential pockets and highways.

Several parts of the city reported ankle-to-knee-deep water on roads. Waterlogging was reported in Sector 10 near Euro International School, South City-1, Sector 69’s Tulip Chowk and 60-metre road, Narsinghpur, sectors 9, 14 and 45, DLF Phase 3’s V Block, Ardee City towards Sector 52, Sector 52A, Sector 5 and the Airia Mall stretch on Sohna Road.

The rain also caused traffic snarls across the city as traffic moved slowly and four-kilometer jams were recorded.

“Traffic teams have been deployed on site for managing vehicle movement, and assistance from local police stations has also been taken. We will take up route diversions wherever necessary,” ACP traffic (headquarters and highways) Satyapal Yadav told .
