Court moved over insult to woman officer, Hindalga Jail

An officer of the Hindalga Central Jail filed a complaint with a local court against two people for insulting a woman officer of the jail and damaging the reputation of the institution.
Assistant Superintendent of the jail Mallikarjun Konnur filed a private complaint with the second JMFC court seeking action against Saikumar Nagalingaiah alias Kunigal Suri and a social media influencer Sandhya Nagaraj.
He has charged them with spreading widely on social media videos of a woman officer of the jail “making nude video calls” to a prison inmate a few years ago.
The two people have used images of the jail, the Chief Minister, the Home Minister, the Director-General of Police and the Additional Director-General of Police Prisons in those messages and made wild allegations that these dignitaries have allowed illegal and immoral activities by the jail staff.
Such messages have tarnished the image of the State government and the century-old jail, the complaint said.
Another complaint has been filed by the jail officials at the Cyber, Narcotics and Economic Police Station.
Meanwhile, Ms. Nagaraj released a video saying that she has received a notice from the Belagavi Police asking her to submit a statement as part of investigation.
She said that she will cooperate with investigation, provided she is given the bus fare to travel to Belagavi from Bengaluru.
The woman officer, who was earlier in the Karnataka State Industrial Security force, is now posted in Bengaluru. She has filed a police complaint against Kunigal Suri and another man on a similar charge.
