Union Home Minister Amit Shah encountered a dramatic black-flag demonstration by Youth Congress activists during his arrival in Keralam on Saturday. The incident unfolded outside the Asramam ground in Kollam, where protesters attempted to disrupt the Minister’s itinerary.

The confrontation unfolded moments after the Home Minister’s helicopter touched down, when demonstrators led by Youth Congress leader Binu Chulliyil abruptly surged toward the moving motorcade. Law enforcement personnel swiftly intervened, forcibly removing the protesters to clear the route.

The demonstration also ignited a standoff between the protesting youth wing members and local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) supporters who had gathered at the location, though police quickly restored order.

Despite the disruption, the itinerary proceeded as planned. Mr. Shah travelled onward to Kundara to inaugurate a National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Limited (NCCF) programme, followed by a scheduled visit to Amritapuri to officially launch the ‘Viswa Sevana Dina’ observances commemorating the birthday of Mata Amritanandamayi.
