What is the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement?

Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally signed the agreement in Mecca on August 7.

The pact establishes a framework for collective defence as well as wider military and security cooperation between the three countries.

One of its key provisions states that an armed attack on any one of the three members will be considered an attack against all three.
