APIf you received your first CDB payment after June 2026, your supplemental payment will be issued at a later date
The federal government of Canada is sending out an additional payment of $150 to Canadians who qualify for Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) payments. According to Canada.ca, if you received a CDB payment between July 2025 and June 2026, a supplemental payment of $150 will be issued to you on September 17, 2026. If you received your first CDB payment after June 2026, your supplemental payment will be issued at a later date, the report said.
The one-time payment of $150 CDB will be released from Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), along with the CDB program’s regular monthly payments. The CDB provides direct financial support to people with disabilities who are between 18 and 64 years old.

How do you qualify for CDB payments?
- First, get approved for the Disability Tax Credit (DTC). Approval for the DTC is required before someone can qualify for the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB).
- The credit is available to Canadians with physical or mental impairments who meet the eligibility requirements.
- The Canada Revenue Agency says the credit is designed to reduce the amount of income tax an eligible person owes and help offset some disability-related costs.
- T2201 certificate is required. Applicants must obtain a Disability Tax Credit Certificate (T2201) and have the relevant sections completed by an appropriate medical practitioner.
- There may be a fee. Some medical practitioners may charge a fee for completing the T2201 form for their patients.
“Since its launch last year, the Canada Disability Benefit has helped support the financial security of hundreds of thousands of working-age Canadians with disabilities.
“This new supplemental payment will help cover the cost of getting the disability tax credit, so more people can access the support they are entitled to,” said Canada’s jobs and families minister, Patty Hajdu, in the release, as per Global News.

How will Canadians receive the CDB payments?
If you previously received the CDB and have an approved DTC certificate, you may not need to apply again. The government could send you the payment automatically, with the amount potentially calculated at $150 per eligible DTC certificate.
People who already received the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB): If they received CDB payments covering an entire payment period, they may be eligible for the automatic payment.
People who received the benefit in the past: Previous CDB recipients may also qualify for the payment.
$150 per approved DTC certificate: Eligible people could receive $150 for each approved Disability Tax Credit (DTC) certificate, depending on the specific rules of the payment.
Date of payment
The one-time payments will be sent on September 17 with the regular CDB payment for eligible recipients who received a CDB payment from July 2025 to June 2026. Those that received CDB payments since July 2026 will see the additional one-time payment in winter 2027, but a specific date has not yet been provided, and will include individuals who were approved for new DTC certificates.
