Ranga Reddy DMHO, Health Inspector held in ₹1 lakh bribery case

Ranga Reddy District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) and a Health Inspector were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday in a bribery case involving a physiotherapy centre, with a private person allegedly accepting ₹1 lakh on their behalf.
According to the ACB, DMHO Swarna Kumari and Health Inspector M. Srinivas allegedly demanded ₹2 lakh from the complainant for returning the keys of a physiotherapy centre that had been seized for operating without a DMHO licence, for not initiating further action against the centre and for issuing a new licence.
Maddurikrishnaiah, identified as a private driver of Srinivas, allegedly demanded the money on the instructions of the two officials and accepted ₹1 lakh from the complainant on Monday, the agency said.
The bribe amount of ₹1 lakh was recovered from the possession of Maddurikrishnaiah at his instance.
The ACB alleged that Swarna Kumari and Srinivas had acted improperly and dishonestly in discharging their duties to obtain an undue advantage.
All three accused were being produced before the First Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
The case is under investigation, while the identity and other details of the complainant have been withheld for security reasons.
