    Yorktown High School mourns Wilson

The news of Wilson's death was shared with Yorktown High School families and students on Monday. Principal Stacey Brewer addressed the tragedy in a message to the school community.

"With great sadness, I share that Chris Wilson, a senior at Yorktown High School, died tragically early this morning," she wrote.

Brewer described Wilson as "a valued member of our school, our football team, and our community."

"Our hearts are with his family, friends and teammates," she added.

Yorktown head football coach Mike Wilhelm also paid tribute to the teenager, remembering him not only for his ability on the field but also for the way he treated those around him. "He's a great football player, but an even better friend and teammate."

"He was highly respected because he treated others with love and kindness. Uncommonly, he never sought out the attention that came with being a high Division-1 football recruit. "He showed up every day and worked hard to get better. Our team has lost a brother, and we will carry him with us forever,” the head coach added.
