Man held for temple thefts in Amangal, property worth ₹1.65 lakh recovered

A 38-year-old man was arrested within 24 hours of thefts reported at two temples near Vittayipally village in Amangal, with police recovering property worth ₹1.65 lakh from him.

The accused, Peddamukkala Eshwar of Gantaravupally village in Nagarkurnool district, was identified using technical evidence, fingerprint analysis and assistance from the Clues Team, Future City police said on Friday.

The case was registered after thefts were reported at the Hanuman and Peddamma temples near Vittayipally village.

Police recovered silver articles, brass lamps and bells, copper vessels, a gold-plated article and a motorcycle bearing registration number AP 22 P 3368 from the accused. During the investigation, police also found Eshwar’s alleged involvement in similar temple theft cases reported from Peddakothapally, Panagal, Gantaravupally and Kandukur.

A case was registered under Sections 331(4) and 305(d) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
