Women’s Andhra Premier League will give female cricketers a platform, says Rayapati Sailaja

The Women’s Andhra Premier League (WAPL) will give women cricketers an important platform to show their talent, Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission Chairperson Rayapati Sailaja said.
Taking part in the “Bikes and Bats: Women on Wheels” bike ride organised in Vijayawada on Thursday (September 17, 2026) to build awareness of the league, Ms. Sailaja said she was happy that women were now earning a distinct identity in cricket.
She said women cricketers from different parts of the State had been divided into four teams: Godavari, Amaravati, Vizag and Rayalaseema.
About 100 women riders took part in the ride and said they supported the women cricketers.
