Telugu Desam Party (TDP)Andhra Pradesh State president Palla Srinivasa Rao has said that September 9, the day on which the then Leader of the Opposition and TDP National President N. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested in 2023, would remain an unforgettable dark day in the history of the Telugu people.

“The arrest and harassment of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, a leader devoted to public service, was politically motivated and the illegal cases registered against him was a reflection of the authoritarian conduct of the then YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government,” Mr. Srinivasa Rao said in a statement on Wednesday (September 9, 2026).

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu was arrested on September 9, 2023, at Nandyal by the A.P. CID in the alleged multi-crore A.P. State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) scam case and spent more than 50 days in the Rajamahendravaram Central Prison.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said no conspiracy or adversity could suppress Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s commitment to public service and integrity.

“The spontaneous support extended to Mr. Chandrababu Naidu by Telugu people across Andhra Pradesh and around the world during those difficult days was a testimony to the unwavering faith and trust that people repose in his leadership,” he said.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said truth had prevailed in the courts and the cases could not withstand judicial scrutiny, showing that justice and righteousness would prevail ultimately.

“Mr. Chandrababu Naidu’s contribution to public service and his relentless efforts towards the development of Andhra Pradesh will remain etched in the hearts of Telugu people forever,” said the TDP State chief.
