State to seek ₹200 crore for underground drainage in Kakinada, says MAUD Minister

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister and Kakinada District In-Charge P. Narayana said that the State government would seek ₹200 crore from the Centre under the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF) for the development of underground drainage in Kakinada city. 

On Sunday, Mr. Narayana, city MLA Vanamadi Venkateswara Rao, Kakinada Municipal Corporation Commissioner N.V.V. Satyanarayana reviewed the ongoing and proposed projects in Kakinada city. 

Addressing officials, Mr. Narayana directed them to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to seek the ₹200 crore from the Centre for the underground drainage project.

Reviewing the ₹354 crore ongoing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) works, Mr. Narayana said that the State government would soon decide the drinking water source and water share to be allotted to Kakinada city. He said that tenders have been invited for modernisation of parks and improving green cover in the city at a cost of ₹25 crore.
