Asian Games 2026: Sree Charani scripts record in ICC T20I bowling rankings

Sree Charani has reached the highest rating points ever recorded in ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings. Her recent performances include pivotal roles in India's victories at the Women's Asia Cup and Asian Games. Charani's record-setting 817-point rating broke the previous mark held by Megan Schutt. Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana also made significant advancements in their respective rankings.

Sree Charani sets new ICC Women's T20I bowling record

Indian spinner Sree Charani has reached the highest rating points ever recorded in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings, following a string of stellar performances in recent tournaments, as reported by the ICC website.

The left-arm spinner, who currently holds the top spot among T20I bowlers, attained a record-setting rating of 817 points. In doing so, she broke the previous record of 806 points set by Australia’s Megan Schutt in November 2018.

Charani served as a cornerstone of India’s triumphant campaigns at both the Women’s Asia Cup and the Asian Games. She picked up 12 wickets throughout India’s title-winning Asia Cup run, highlighted by a game-defining 4/20 against Sri Lanka in the final to seal India’s eighth championship, according to the ICC website.

Over in the ICC Women’s ODI Rankings, West Indies captain Hayley Matthews advanced three spots to fourth among batters, reaching 711 points after her historic 182-run innings against Zimbabwe.

Multiple players from Zimbabwe and the West Indies made notable climbs during their ongoing ODI series.

For Zimbabwe, Nyasha Gwanzura jumped 52 positions to 156th in the ODI bowling rankings after delivering a career-best performance of 4/33. Meanwhile, teammate Modester Mupachikwa rose 16 places to reach a career-high 40th in the batting rankings on the back of scores of 86 and 38 in the series.

Australia’s Ash Gardner maintains her lead at the top of the ODI all-rounder rankings, while Matthews retains the No. 1 spot among T20I all-rounders. Alana King leads the ODI bowling rankings, Beth Mooney sits at the top of the T20I batting rankings, and Smriti Mandhana holds her place as the world's top-ranked ODI batter.
