Nothing Headphone 1 Pro: Nothing has launched its 399 dollar flagship headphones, the Headphone 1 Pro, built around a triple driver setup and a studio inspired Flat EQ switch. The headphones also bring 68 hours of battery life, high resolution audio support and noise cancellation that comes close to rivals from Sony, Bose and Apple.

Nothing has unveiled its new flagship over ear headphones, the Headphone 1 Pro, priced at 399 dollars. The launch comes after the company found success with the Headphone A at 199 dollars and the Ear 3A earbuds under 100 dollars, giving Nothing a full range for buyers at every budget. Details of the headphones were reported by The Verge, which spent time testing the new pair ahead of a full review.

The bigger story here is what Nothing has packed inside the price tag. The Headphone 1 Pro bring a triple driver design, a physical Flat EQ switch built for studio use, and a battery that lasts up to 68 hours with noise cancellation switched off.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro Price

At 399 dollars, the Headphone 1 Pro sit well above the rest of Nothing's audio range. The Headphone A covers casual buyers at 199 dollars, while the Ear 3A earbuds serve anyone wanting a cheap pair under 100 dollars. This new pair goes up against the Sony XM6, Bose Ultra Headphones Gen 2 and Apple AirPods Max 2, all of which sit in a similar price bracket.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro Triple Driver Design

Most flagship headphones use one driver per ear cup. The Sony XM6, Bose Ultra Headphones Gen 2 and AirPods Max 2 all follow this single driver approach. Nothing has gone a different route with three drivers inside each ear cup: a 40mm dynamic driver for bass, a separate driver for the midrange, and a tiny solid state xMEMS driver for higher frequencies. Splitting the range across three drivers lets each one focus on a narrower job, which should make higher frequencies sound faster and cleaner compared to a single driver trying to cover everything.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro Flat EQ Switch

Tucked away on the inside corner of the left ear cup is a switch that most buyers will never use, but that professionals may love. Flipping it on turns off the EQ and spatial audio processing entirely, giving a flat, unprocessed sound. Nothing built this feature with Metropolis Studios in London, the same recording space where Mark Ronson worked on Amy Winehouse's music.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro Sound Signature

This goes against where most of the industry is heading. Apple recently added a 3 band equalizer to AirPods with iOS 27, giving users more control rather than less. Research from Harman's Dr Sean Olive has found most listeners actually prefer a curve with boosted bass, natural mids and slightly lifted highs, known in audio circles as the Harman Curve. A flat sound, while useful in a mixing room, can feel dull or off for everyday listening. Even most studio monitors are tuned closer to the Harman Curve than to a truly flat response, so the appeal of this switch may stay limited to a small group of professionals.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro Battery Life

Battery life is where the Headphone 1 Pro pulls ahead of the pack. With noise cancellation on, it lasts up to 30 hours, stretching to 68 hours with it off.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro Noise Cancellation

Noise cancellation performance is strong, handling low rumble from AC units and airplanes well, and doing a decent job with street traffic. According to The Verge's testing, it falls just short of the Sony XM6, Bose Ultra Headphones Gen 2 and AirPods Max 2, which remain the current benchmark, but it marks the best noise cancellation Nothing has managed on any of its headphones so far.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro Design And Build

The Headphone 1 Pro keeps Nothing's familiar transparent look and tactile buttons, including a volume roller that works well without any risk of accidental taps. The headphones carry an IP52 rating for basic dust and splash resistance.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro Case

The included hard shell case only covers the ear cups, leaving the headband exposed to double up as a handle, a design choice similar to the case bundled with the AirPods Max.

Nothing Headphone 1 Pro Supported Audio Formats

The headphones support LDAC for high resolution wireless audio up to 24 bit and 96 kHz, along with wired lossless playback over USB-C up to 24 bit and 192 kHz. Auracast support rounds things off, letting the headphones work as either a transmitter or receiver.
