A special musical tribute will be held in Hubballi on September 27 to mark the first death anniversary of renowned sitar exponent Pandit Shrinivas Joshi.

The programme, organised jointly by Sanskar Bharati, Kshamata, Mangal Bharati, Karnatak Chamber of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Symphony, will be held at the KCCI Hall at J.C. Nagar in Hubballi at 5.30 p.m.

The event will feature performances by three young artists who will pay musical tribute to Joshi through vocal and instrumental renditions.

Flautist Madhu Kulkarni of Hubballi, a disciple of noted flautist Pravin Godkhindi, Bengaluru-based vocalist Sangeeta Hegde, and sitarist Vijay Gonahalu, a disciple of Padma Bhushan awardee Pandit Arvind Parikh, will perform. They will be accompanied by Prasad Madiwalar and Shamanth Desai on tabla and Vinod Patil on harmonium.

In a press release, the organisers have said that the programme was aimed at commemorating the contribution of Joshi to the field of music and provide music lovers an opportunity to remember the artist through live performances.
