Gill, Bumrah slide in ICC Test rankings; Padikkal climbs five places
Synopsis

Shubman Gill and Jasprit Bumrah have slipped in the latest ICC Test rankings. Rishabh Pant remains India's highest-ranked batter, holding steady at seventh place. Yashasvi Jaiswal maintained his position at eleventh among the world's top batters. Devdutt Padikkal made a significant jump to 54th after a strong series. Sonal Dinusha also climbed 29 places to 25th after scoring centuries.

India captain Shubman Gill slipped two places to ninth among batters, while Jasprit Bumrah dropped one spot to third among bowlers in the latest ICC Test rankings released on Wednesday.

Rishabh Pant remains India’s highest-ranked batter at seventh, while Yashasvi Jaiswal held his position at 11th.

Gill managed just one half-century in three innings during India’s recent tour of Sri Lanka, which saw him drop two places in the batting rankings.

Devdutt Padikkal, however, made a significant jump after a strong series against Sri Lanka. The left-hander, who was India’s leading run-scorer on the tour with 328 runs across two Tests, including two centuries, climbed five places to 54th.

Bumrah, meanwhile, lost his second spot among Test bowlers and is now third, behind Australia’s Mitchell Starc and New Zealand’s Matt Henry.

The premier Indian pacer missed the Sri Lanka tour after suffering an impact injury to his knee, which has kept him out of action since mid-July.
