Lalapet police traced a four-year-old girl who was allegedly taken away from her grandmother and detained two persons with the help of RTGS 360° technology, Guntur East DSP P. Sitharam said on Friday.

The case was registered at the Lalapet police station under Section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), following a complaint lodged by a 65-year-old woman from Saibaba Colony.

The woman told the police that her four-year-old granddaughter had been taken away by her daughter-in-law’s brother, Pasupuleti Sai Manoj Kumar, on the pretext of buying her snacks. However, he did not return with the child.

During the investigation, the police examined CCTV footage from several locations in Guntur and identified Manoj Kumar and his wife Sheikh Sumaya, taking the child with them. The police then monitored CCTV footage from the Guntur and Vijayawada bus stands and railway station areas.

Photographs of the child and the two suspects were uploaded to the RTGS 360° system for tracking. An alert indicated their presence near Bapatla railway station.

Lalapet police, with the assistance of Railway Protection Force personnel, searched the area and found the two suspects with the girl near a tea stall outside the railway station.

According to the police, the suspects told them that they intended to raise the child as they had no children of their own. The girl was safely recovered and steps were taken to hand her over to her family.
