Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran on Saturday (September 12, 2026) said there had been an “undeclared load shedding” in Tamil Nadu, compelling people to resort to agitations. 

In a post on social media, Mr. Dhinakaran said the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-led government, which had been in office for over 120 days, had not addressed the issue of electricity shortage, a basic need of the people. Instead of taking steps for the provision of uninterrupted supply, the Minister concerned had been “digging the time-barred allegations“ and reopening “closed chapters” and this was condemnable. 

Mr. Dhinakaran called upon the State government and the Energy department to ensure that the interruptions in power supply be brought to an end and the people be provided with uninterrupted supply. 

On manhandling of women in Chennai

In another post, he referred to the video purportedly showing the police personnel manhandling two women including an advocate at the R.K. Nagar police station in Chennai having gone viral. Expressing shock over the incident, Mr. Dhinakaran wanted the government to take action against the officials concerned. 

On reports that headmasters of the government and government-aided schools having been asked to bear the expenses of the launch of expansion of the Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme on September 17, the AMMK leader urged the government to drop the move.
