More than 800 radiologists and imaging professionals from across the country are attending the 12th annual State conference of the Andhra Pradesh Indian Radiological and Imaging Association-2026 at AIIMS-Mangalagiri. The conference began on September 25 and will continue till September 27.

Executive Director of AIIMS-Mangalagiri Ahanthem Santa Singh, who attended the inaugural ceremony as the guest of honour on Saturday (September 26), highlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in radiology. He said AI should not replace radiologists but serve as a companion, supporting clinical decision-making and improving patient care.

Prudhvinatha Reddy, Additional Professor and Head of the Department of Radio-Diagnosis at AIIMS-Mangalagiri, was awarded a gold medal by AP IRIA for his academic excellence and contribution to the field of radiology.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Reddy said more conferences should be organised, particularly for young radiologists, to provide opportunities for knowledge sharing, professional interaction and learning about advances in radiology.

Organised by the AP IRIA Vijayawada subchapter in association with the Department of Radio-Diagnosis, AIIMS-Mangalagiri, the conference features scientific sessions, lectures, panel discussions and academic presentations on diagnostic and interventional radiology, AI and emerging imaging technologies.

Members of AP IRIA are participating in the conference.
