A Special Court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in Bengaluru has sentenced an accused in connection with the in the Al-Hind ISIS terror conspiracy case to seven years of rigorous imprisonment. A fine of ₹48,000 has also been imposed on Syed Fasiur Rehaman

The case relates to a conspiracy linked to the proscribed ISIS terrorist organisation with investigators alleging that members of the Al-Hind module planned targeted killings to trigger communal riots and advance the outfit’s agenda.

The case was initially registered by the Karnataka Police in Bengaluru on January 10, 2020. The NIA subsequently took over the investigation and re-registered it as on January 23 in the same year.

According to the NIA, it has so far filed three chargesheets against 20 accused in the case. Earlier this year, accused Haneef Khan was convicted on July 14 after pleading guilty during the trial, which commenced in October 2025.

The NIA investigation identified Mehaboob Pasha as the prime accused and alleged that he masterminded the conspiracy. Several meetings were held at his residence in Gurappanapalya, Bengaluru, where the accused allegedly discussed plans for targeted killings with the intention of provoking communal violence.

The investigation claimed that Fasiur Rehaman participated in the conspiracy meetings and purchased tents and knives from a Decathlon showroom for jungle-camp training of members of the Al-Hind group.

The alleged objective of the conspiracy was to establish an ISIS/Daesh Wilayah or province in India.

The NIA said its investigation is continuing and efforts are underway to trace an online handler who allegedly planned and conspired to establish the module involved in the terror conspiracy.
