Minority students’ scholarships will be released soon in Karnataka, says Minister Khader

Scholarships pending for students from minority communities at various levels will be released soon, Health, Minority Welfare, Haj and Wakf Minister U.T. Khader said on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters at the Directorate of Minority Welfare office in Vasanth Nagar, Mr. Khader said he had received information about the delay in releasing the scholarships.
“I have received information that the scholarships have not been released. I will hold a meeting with department officials and take steps to ensure that they are released soon,” he said.
PhD scholarship may be increased
The Minister also said the government would consider increasing the monthly financial assistance provided to PhD researchers from minority communities. He said researchers had earlier received ₹25,000 a month, but the amount was subsequently reduced to ₹10,000.
“We will hold a meeting with PhD researchers and discuss the issue. Based on the discussions, steps will be taken to increase the assistance,” he said.
