Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil has said that measures are being taken to create widespread public awareness regarding road safety and traffic regulations.

The SP on Saturday (August 22, 2026) inaugurated an advanced traffic awareness vehicle at the Konda Reddy Buruju in Kurnool city as part of a program organized by the Kurnool Traffic Police. Speaking to media on this occasion, the SP said the advanced awareness vehicle equipped with a digital screen has been introduced to educate the public and motorists in Kurnool city about traffic rules.

Videos raising awareness about traffic regulations will be displayed on this digital screen. He stated that they would raise public awareness about the consequences of accidents by displaying CCTV footage of incidents caused by factors such as not wearing helmets, drunk driving, speeding, jumping signals, and wrong side driving.

Mr Vikrant Patil said that rather than limiting the initiative to a single area in Kurnool city, they would identify busy locations and use the vehicle at various places and times to educate the public and motorists about traffic rules. He added that traffic police are not merely imposing fines on violators but are also conducting various programs to increase public awareness regarding traffic regulations.

Stating that extensive awareness campaigns are being conducted regarding the use of helmets, the SP said they have been receiving complaints about wrong side driving and overspeeding by two-wheeler riders and emphasised the need for a change in public behavior to curb these practices.

“Traffic is being streamlined in Kurnool city through the installation of dividers and the implementation of one-way traffic systems wherever necessary,” the SP said and urged everyone to adhere to traffic rules, wear helmets and seat belts, and drive safely.
