The son of Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha member Lingamaneni Ramesh has been named as the accused in connection with the death of a 26-year-old Inorbit Mall employee who was hit by an Aston Martin while crossing the road outside the mall in Madhapur on August 16.

Lingamaneni Sanjush, 21, was identified by Madhapur police as the driver of the car, bearing registration number TG 09 G 0666.

In an official note, Madhapur police revealed that the vehicle was being driven at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner when it hit Bharati Mukhi, who worked as a sales associate at the Lifestyle store in Inorbit Mall.

Bharati had gone with her colleague Pooja Ashok, to the ITC Kohenur area to collect lunch at around 3 p.m. As they were returning to the mall, Bharati attempted to cross the road and was hit by the car, according to the FIR. She suffered a severe head injury and was taken to a private hospital in Jubilee Hills in the same car, where doctors declared her dead.

The complaint was lodged by Lifestyle store manager Panjala Ashwin Kumar after Pooja informed him about the accident. Police subsequently identified Sanjush as the driver and registered a case under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, pertaining to causing death by a rash or negligent act.

Police said Sanjush was not arrested as the offence is bailable and carries a punishment of less than seven years. A notice has been served on him.

The car has been seized and police have conducted drunk-driving and drug tests on Sanjush. His blood samples were also collected and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for analysis. Police are awaiting the post-mortem examination report and other evidence as part of the investigation.
