In accordance with central government guidelines, each student’s individual blood type information will be registered on a dedicated portal. The Health Department, under the leadership of Dr. Prashant Javade, and the Education Department, led by Mr. Dattatray Ghanvat, have jointly organized this campaign.

To facilitate the campaign, pathologists and laboratory experts have been appointed as nodal officers in various public hospitals across Vashi, Airoli, and Nerul. Dr. Shubhangi Muneshwar will oversee the initiative at the Vashi public hospital, Dr. Vishwajeet Patil at Airoli, and Dr. Prajakta Kulkarni at Nerul.

A total of 44,269 students are expected to undergo blood type testing as part of this campaign. The nodal officers will work closely with pathologists and laboratory experts to ensure efficient execution of the initiative.

Schools will be responsible for ensuring that all of their students participate in the blood type testing. Teachers have been entrusted with the task of informing and motivating students to get their blood type tested. The collected data will be sent to the respective nodal officers or pathologists and then transmitted to the Education Department through the Center Coordinator. Importantly, the blood type testing will be provided free of charge.

This campaign is an extraordinary initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of blood donation and empowering each student with knowledge about their own blood type. Parents are also encouraged to participate in this noble cause by getting their children’s blood type tested.

Commissioner Rajesh Narvekar has called on parents and students to embrace this unique opportunity to gain insights into their own health while supporting the noble cause of blood donation. The campaign not only promotes health awareness but also encourages the spirit of altruism and community service among the youth of Navi Mumbai.
