Navi Mumbai Gears Up for Eco-Friendly Shri Ganeshotsav 2023 under Vigilant Leadership

Navi Mumbai :- In anticipation of the upcoming Shri Ganeshotsav 2023, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a smooth and eco-friendly celebration. NMMC Commissioner, Mr. Rajesh Narvekar, chaired a crucial planning meeting at the Municipal Headquarters, where he laid out comprehensive directives and reviewed preparations for the grand festival.

During the meeting, Commissioner Narvekar emphasized the need for meticulous planning and coordination among all concerned authorities. Notable attendees included Additional Commissioner Shri. Sujata Dhole, Deputy Commissioner of Administration Department Mr. Sharad Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Circle 1 Shri. Somnath Potre, and Deputy Commissioner of Circle 2 Dr. Sriram Pawar, along with Deputy Commissioner of Police of Circle 1 Shri. Vivek Pansare and Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Department Mr. Tirupati Kakade, among others.

One of the key aspects discussed was the granting of permission for pavilions. Out of 205 applications received, 138 have been approved, while 26 were rejected. The Commissioner ordered the swift processing of the remaining 41 pending applications to ensure no board misses out on celebrating the festival due to a lack of permission.

In line with eco-friendly initiatives, Commissioner Narvekar instructed officials to gather data on the number of citizens and circles opting for eco-friendly Shadu idols within the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation area. To facilitate eco-friendly immersion, a total of 139 artificial lakes are being constructed across eight divisions within the corporation’s jurisdiction. The Commissioner stressed the importance of maintaining facilities at these sites and coordinating closely with the police department regarding their locations.

Furthermore, the Commissioner urged all department officers to personally inspect immersion sites within their respective areas and address any necessary matters promptly. Ensuring the cleanliness of the city during Shri Ganeshotsav, especially at immersion places, was highlighted as a priority. Measures to collect, transport, and dispose of green waste like Phule, Patri, and Durwa were instructed to be put in place.

To ensure the safety and well-being of devotees, medical teams with ambulances will be stationed at main immersion sites, while other immersion sites will be served by teams from nearby civil health centers. Adequate provisions for electricity, generators, and drinking water were mandated, along with a directive to disinfect areas around the Shri Ganeshotsav mandaps. The fire brigade was also put on alert.

Commissioner Narvekar and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation, in tandem with the Navi Mumbai Police, appeal to devotees to cooperate fully, adhere to all rules, and embrace eco-friendly practices to ensure a seamless and environmentally conscious Shri Ganeshotsav 2023. On this auspicious occasion, Municipal Commissioner Shri. Rajesh Narvekar extends heartfelt wishes to all citizens for a joyous and blessed Shri Ganesha festival.
