A 12-year-old student and his father were injured when their scooter collided with a parked taxi near Kapol Niwas Building on Dr Ambedkar Road. The boy suffered head and leg injuries, while his father sustained head, leg and facial injuries. A watchman alerted police and ambulance services; after an ambulance reportedly failed to arrive, locals took them to Sion Hospital.

Mumbai: In a shocking incident that came to light, a 12-year-old 6th standard student of Matunga Don Bosco School, while returning home with his father, met with an accident after their two-wheeler vehicle collided with a taxi. They were travelling towards Dadar Hindu Colony.

According to the information received, the student has been identified as Shrathik and his father as Daday Chawan. Both of them were heading towards their home on a scooter after Shrathik had appeared for his exam; however, when they reached Dr Ambedkar Road, near Kapol Niwas Building, their scooter collided with a taxi parked on the roadside.

The reports further state that Daday was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, which helped provide protection during the impact. However, he still suffered injuries to his head, leg and face, while the student is reported to have also suffered head and leg injuries.

Construction work is going on at Kapol Niwas Building. The building watchman, Nisar Shaikh, found the student's ID card and contacted his mother, Pooja, to inform her about the accident.

Father and son taken to hospital

Moreover, Shaikh also immediately informed the Police Control Room and ambulance services. However, the ambulance reportedly did not arrive on time. A Maruti Omni ambulance was standing nearby, so the watchman and local people helped take the father and son to Sion Hospital.
