WoW Forever launches on November 4, 2026, as Blizzard introduces its new Classic WoW experience with more than 1,000 quests, new zones, dungeons, raids, a battleground and a new playable race. The new content of WoW Forever will deliver new experiences for players throughout the level bracket. World of Warcraft launched in 2004. Since then, the game has grown massively, with 11 expansions and numerous game-changing updates.

Blizzard has finally given its long-awaited answer to the Classic Plus question. At BlizzCon 2026, the company officially revealed World of Warcraft: Forever, a new version of the iconic MMO that keeps the original game's level-60 framework while adding a large amount of new content. For longtime World of Warcraft players who wanted the original Azeroth experience without simply replaying the same content again, WoW Forever is designed to offer something different. Blizzard says the game will remain in the era of the original World of Warcraft, effectively creating a permanent home for players who prefer the Classic experience while allowing that world to continue expanding.

What is WoW Forever?

WoW Forever is Blizzard's new take on the Classic Plus concept that World of Warcraft players have been asking for. Instead of moving the game through the same expansion progression as modern World of Warcraft, Blizzard is keeping the experience around the original game's level-60 era and adding new adventures within that framework.

The idea is simple: preserve the feel of vanilla World of Warcraft while giving players new reasons to explore Azeroth. Blizzard described it as a new experience alongside Modern WoW and Classic rather than simply another version of the existing Classic servers.

When does WoW Forever release?

World of Warcraft: Forever launches November 4, 2026. Players will not have to wait until November to get their first look. Blizzard is also starting a beta on September 17, giving players an opportunity to experience the new version ahead of its full launch.

The timing is significant because the announcement had been one of the most anticipated reveals at BlizzCon 2026. At launch, WoW Forever will introduce more than 1,000 new quests, along with three new zones and expanded versions of existing areas. Blizzard is also adding new dungeons, raids and other activities.

Among the new locations are Mount Hyjal, Zephras Isle and Riverglades.

The level cap will remain at 60, keeping the focus on expanding the original experience rather than pushing characters into a higher-level progression system.

A new race is coming to Classic WoW

One of the biggest surprises is the addition of the Skyborne Elves. The new race is part of Blizzard's effort to expand the world without abandoning the visual and gameplay foundations of classic Azeroth.

The announcement trailer also showed players exploring areas that were previously inaccessible or largely unexplored in the original game, including the World Tree Nordrassil and a new sky-based kingdom.

The level-60 limit is central to what makes WoW Forever different.

Rather than following the traditional World of Warcraft model of raising the level cap with every major expansion, Blizzard intends to keep adding content horizontally. That means players can continue developing their characters and exploring the world without constantly leaving the original level-60 framework behind.

For Classic fans, that could make WoW Forever feel more like an evolving version of vanilla WoW rather than another trip through the expansion cycle. The immediate next step is the beta on September 17, followed by the full launch on November 4, 2026.
