SBI UPI services to remain unavailable on Sep 4

State Bank of India UPI services will be unavailable for a short duration this week. Customers should note the scheduled maintenance period for UPI payments. SBI customers who want to make Unified Payment Interface (UPI) payments may face a brief interruption this week. State Bank of India (SBI) has announced that its UPI services will be unavailable for 45 minutes on September 4 due to scheduled maintenance. Customers planning to make UPI payments during this window may want to keep an alternative payment option ready.
When will SBI UPI services remain unavailable?
SBI UPI services will be temporarily unavailable on September 4, 2026, from 00:15 hrs to 01:00 hrs.
SBI also stated that the activity may, however, be completed early. SBI suggested that customers can continue to use UPI Lite Services for uninterrupted service.
In a social media post on X (formerly Twitter), SBI stated: “Due to scheduled maintenance activity, SBI UPI services will be temporarily unavailable from 00:15 hrs to 01:00 hrs on 04.09.2026 (IST). The activity may, however, be completed early. Customers may continue to use UPI Lite Services for uninterrupted service. We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers.”
UPI Lite limits
UPI Lite allows small-value transactions of up to Rs 1,000 without entering a UPI PIN, with a maximum balance limit of Rs 5,000.

SBI UPI transaction limits
SBI has implemented the following UPI transaction limits:
- Number of Person to Person (P2P) transactions per day: 20 transactions
- Number of Person to Merchant (P2M) transactions per day: This will be subject to the per day limit on the UPI transaction value.
- UPI transaction value limit: Rs 1,00,000
- UPI transaction value limit per day (Person to Person and P2M): Rs 1,00,000
- Enhanced transaction limits for select verified merchants:
- Insurance, capital markets: Rs 2,00,000
- IPO (ASBA), Retail Direct scheme (RDS), tax payments, hospitals, educational institutions:Rs 5,00,000
- Inward and outward remittances through UPI (India -Singapore corridor) – Up to 1,000 SGD equivalent
