The Anti-Terrorism Branch (ATB) of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police has identified 30 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly staying illegally within the police commissionerate limits since May 2025, of whom 26 have been deported while proceedings against four others are underway, police said.

The latest action came on September 18, 2026, when the ATB, acting on specific information located a 29-year-old Bangladeshi woman at Diamond Lodge in the Bhosari police station limits, near Govind Garden. Police said the woman had been staying under an Indian identity and was carrying an allegedly forged Aadhaar card.

According to the police, the woman identified herself during questioning by her Bangladeshi name as Lavli, daughter of Abu Bakr Siddiq Sheikh, and said she was originally from Khulna district in Bangladesh. Police said she told investigators that she had entered India illegally around two years ago and had subsequently been living in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, with a man identified as Rovindar Jat. 

Investigators also allegedly found that she remained in contact with her son, mother and other relatives in Bangladesh through Facebook Messenger. She was subsequently handed over to Bhosari police for further proceedings, while the Foreigners Registration Branch has initiated the process for her deportation to Bangladesh, police said.

The action followed a similar operation a day earlier. On September 17, 2026 the ATB received information about a Bangladeshi woman staying at the Swarg Lodge within the Dehu Road police station limits. Police located the woman there and initially found documents identifying her as an Indian resident from West Bengal.

Further verification allegedly revealed that the Aadhaar card in her possession was forged. During questioning, the woman identified herself as Fiha, daughter of Mujibur Rahman, aged 19, and gave an address in Madariganj district of Bangladesh. According to the press note, she told police that she had entered India illegally about a year ago.

Police said examination of her mobile phone showed that she was communicating with her parents and other relatives in Bangladesh through IMO and WhatsApp. She was handed over to Dehu Road police, following which the Foreigners Registration Branch began deportation proceedings.

Police said the operations are part of a continuing drive following a Union Home Ministry circular dated May 2, 2025. According to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police press notes, Bangladeshi nationals found staying illegally in the Commissionerate’s jurisdiction are being processed for immediate deportation instead of criminal cases being registered against them under this procedure.

Between May 2, 2025, and September 19, 2026, the ATB identified and detained 30 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly staying illegally in the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police jurisdiction, and 26 have since been deported to Bangladesh, while deportation proceedings involving the remaining four are under way, according to police.
