Exhorting people to cooperate in building a modern Telangana with the spirit of past struggles, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy asserted that hopes and aspirations of the people will serve as benchmark for all the Government decisions.

“We are running a people-centric administration upholding the Telangana spirit and prioritising self respect of the people. Telangana is competing not just with neighbouring States but with the entire world,” he said. The Chief Minister was speaking after unfurling the Tricolour at the Public Gardens here to celebrate “Praja Palana Dinotsavam” on Thursday marking the anniversary of integration of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union. The day, he said, was significant as it marked not only the end of Nizam’s rule, but also paved the way for transition from monarchy to democratic governance.

Outlining the various initiatives launched by the Congress government since it took over the reins in December 2023, he said the State’s per capita income was ₹4.18 lakh, 91% higher than the national average. The government’s main goal, however, was to ensure that development was reflected not in statistics but in the actual lives of the people.

The current dispensation was farmer-friendly as could be seen from waiver of crop loans of up to ₹2 lakh releasing ₹20,616 crore and relieving 25.35 lakh farmers from debt burden. The government deposited over ₹36,000 crore into farmers’ accounts through Rythu Bharosa in addition to paying a bonus of ₹500 per quintal to fine rice varieties. The government had spent ₹1.72 lakh crore on agriculture and farmers welfare in 32 months since it came to power.

Land administration reforms like Bhu Bharati Act as well as Bhudhaar and AI-based Bhu Mitra services were launched while the government was waging a legal battle to secure the State’s rightful share in Krishna water. At the same time, construction of irrigation projects like Palamuru-Rangareddy and SLBC were progressing at a brisk pace.

Explaining about the initiatives like implementation of Scheduled Caste categorisation, he said education and healthcare were two eyes of the government. Several initiatives like attracting universities of global repute to start their operations here were taken in the education sector while the government had enhanced coverage under Rajiv Aarogya Sri scheme and took steps to improve medical infrastructure besides providing assistance to the tune of ₹2,526 crore to 5.19 lakh people through CMRF.

On the other infrastructure, he said proposals were submitted to the Central government on expansion of Hyderabad Metro Rail and airport projects. The government was developing the Future City featuring specialised zones like the Young India Skills University, a Life Sciences Hub, an EV Park, an AI City, a Health City, and an Education City. While intensifying efforts on development and welfare, the government took a serious view of food adulteration which endangered public health. ‘TG Safe’ was launched to curb food adulteration and strengthened the ‘EAGLE’ system to make Telangana a “drug-free” State.
