Over 55,000 students get provisional allotment through upward movement after Round 3 of TNEA 2026

As many as 55,365 students were given provisional allotment through upward mobility in the third and final round of Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 counselling sessions.
Among them, a total of 2,450 students belonged to the horizontal reservation category (7.5% reservation for government school students). Students who have provisional allotment through this mode may join their respective colleges on or before September 10. The fees paid by them and the certificates submitted at the TNEA Facilitation Centres will be sent to the colleges, TNEA authorities stated in a press release.
With this, the total number of provisional allotments at the end of all the three rounds of TNEA counselling has reached 1,44,295. Of them, general category students are 1,29,364 while students from government school (7.5% reservation category) number 14,931.
During last year’s TNEA counselling, provisional allotments were given away to a total of 1,45,481 students at the end of three rounds of counselling. As many as 14,143 students from special reservation category got allotments. In the third round alone, as many as 52,168 provisional allotments were distributed, with 2,075 being those from the government school category.
There are a total of 1.8 lakh engineering seats to be filled through the counselling process.
