More than 110 alumni of the Madras Medical College (MMC) came together at the institution’s iconic 129 year-old red-brick heritage building, popularly known as the ‘Red Fort’, to relive their cherished memories and celebrate 50 years since they began their medical journey.

The doctors, who entered the Madras Medical College in 1976, travelled from various parts of the world to participate in the golden jubilee celebration of their college days.

The building, constructed in the Indo-Saracenic style of architecture, had housed the Department of Anatomy for several decades.

The alumni also joined hands with the Rotary Club of Madras Esplanade to sponsor five pink autorickshaws, each costing ₹1.75 lakh, for destitute mothers.
