Four Myanmar nationals, including a man and three girls, were detained by the RPF at Katihar railway station in Bihar for allegedly failing to produce valid documents, officials said on Monday (September 14, 2026).

The four were detained on Sunday (September 13) after the arrival of the Kamakhya-Anand Vihar Superfast Express at the station.

"Upon the arrival of the train, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) team, questioned the four persons and detained them as they could not produce valid passports, citizenship certificates or other legal identity documents," RPF inspector Vikram Kumar said.

“During questioning, they were found to be of Myanmar origin. The RPF then handed them over to the Government Railway Police (GRP) for further legal action and submitted a written complaint in this regard,” he added.

“The GRP subsequently registered a case under Section 21 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and Section 3 of the Passport Act, 1920,” officials said.

“The process of producing the three girls before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) has been initiated,” they said.

“The RPF and GRP are investigating how the four foreign nationals reached Katihar, where they were headed and whether anyone else was involved in bringing them to or taking them from the area,” Mr. Kumar said.

“Subsequently, the GRP registered a case under Section 21 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and Section 3 of the Passport Act, 1920,” officials said.
