A former OSD to Endowments Minister Konda Surekha and five others have been booked following a complaint by a real estate businessman, who alleged that he was assaulted with iron rods and sticks and threatened with dire consequences.

Medipally police initially registered a zero FIR based on a complaint by Gongidi Harikrishna, 36, a resident of Boduppal. The case was subsequently transferred to Jubilee Hills police on grounds of jurisdiction.

The case was registered against former OSD Sumanth, Ramu, Prashanth, Arun Kumar Reddy, Karthik and Mahender Reddy under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

According to the complaint, Harikrishna received a call from Sumanth on July 30 asking him to meet him urgently. He later went with a friend to Ramu’s office at around 9.45 p.m.

Harikrishna alleged that Sumanth questioned him about collecting money using his name. When he denied the allegation, Sumanth allegedly abused him and hit him with an iron rod. He further alleged that Sumanth instigated his associates to attack him, following which they joined the assault.

The complainant claimed that he sustained a fracture to his left hand, bleeding injuries and other injuries and that he underwent surgery on August 10.

Jubilee Hills police confirmed that the case had been transferred from Medipally police station and said an investigation was underway.
