Andhra Pradesh Environment Management Corporation Limited (APEMCL) Chairman Polamreddy Dinesh Reddy has directed the industries to scrupulously follow the guidelines issued by the environmental agencies while pre-processing, co-processing, transporting and managing hazardous waste.

Mr. Reddy inspected Bharathi Cements and GM Eco Services plants in Kadapa district on Wednesday to check the procedures adopted for waste management.

At Bharathi Cements, he specifically sought details of the methods used to scientifically dispose of the hazardous waste material generated at the plant. Bharathi Cements was originally promoted and founded by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his family. In 2010 French cement major Vicat Group acquired the controlling stake in the company.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Reddy instructed the companies to adhere to the guidelines and maintain proper records pertaining to waste disposal.

As the APEMCL website has a GPS-enabled system to monitor the management and shifting of hazardous waste, he appealed to the industries to promptly upload such details on the website.

Mr. Dinesh Reddy also advised the companies to focus on improving greenery in their respective plant premises by planting native tree varieties.

AP Pollution Control Board (APPCB) Executive Engineer Sudha Kuruba and APEMCL officials also took part.
