Balyaspandanam to be rolled out for Anganwadi children in Keralam

The Keralam government is rolling out a programme to ensure comprehensive health of children attending Anganwadis in the State.

‘Balyaspandanam’ will be jointly implemented by the Women and Child Development department and the Health and Family Welfare department as part of the government’s 100-day programme.

The programme aims at ensuring the health check-up of children attending the 33,120 Anganwadis in the State every three months. The children’s physical growth, nutritional status, eyesight, and hearing will be tested so that any issues can be identified early and expert treatment and follow-ups done.

The identification of problems in children’s growth and development will be done by trained health professionals of the Health department.

Minister for Women and Child Development Bindhu Krishna will performs the State-level inauguration of Balyaspandanam at the Kodunganoor family health centre, Vattiyurkavu, on Wednesday. Minister for Health K. Muraleedharan will preside.

Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.V. Rajesh will inaugurate the growth monitoring mechanism on the occasion.
