Two technology-driven services aimed at strengthening policing and improving public safety were launched in Guntur on Tuesday.

Andhra Pradesh Director-General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta, along with Guntur Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal, inaugurated the AI-based Centralised Drone Monitoring Portal (CDMP) and unveiled the SafeStay AP application and their logos.

The CDMP will enable police officials to monitor live feeds from drones deployed across Andhra Pradesh through a centralised dashboard. It incorporates AI-based monitoring and advanced analytics to provide real-time situational awareness and facilitate a quick response.

The portal has a role-based access control (RBAC) system, allowing authorised officials to access information securely. It enables police to monitor drone feeds without relying on public streaming platforms.

The SafeStay AP application has been developed to provide the police with real-time information on people staying at paying guest (PG) facilities and hotels across the State. It will provide occupancy-related information to aid public safety, crime prevention and investigation.

Speaking after launching the services at the Guntur Superintendent of Police’s office, Mr. Gupta said technology was being extensively integrated into policing and its benefits should reach the public. The objective was to ensure that people felt safe and confident in police services, he said.

“Over the past one-and-a-half years, we have been introducing technology on a large scale in policing,” he said, stressing its importance in crime prevention and investigation.

Mr. Gupta said police departments needed to keep pace with technological advancements and make policing simpler and more efficient. People should not have to visit police offices to access services and police services should instead reach their doorstep, he said.

Technology would also play an important role in women’s safety, drug control, traffic management, investigation and preventive policing, he said.

The DGP appreciated the support extended by educational institutions and young technology innovators in developing technology-based solutions. More such applications would be introduced to improve police efficiency and deliver faster services to citizens, he said.
