Anantapur district police have received a new mobile forensic vehicle for efficient collection of scientific evidence at crime scenes.

Inspecting the vehicle at the District Police Office premises on Monday (September 21, 2026), Superintendent of Police P. Jagadeesh discussed the advanced equipment available in the vehicle, its usage, and the procedure for evidence collection.

The SP said that the vehicle facilitates on-site evidence identification, photography, video documentation, and the collection of evidence using scientific methods. It also aids in the collection of fingerprints, bloodstains, biological samples, hair, fibres, and other physical traces found at serious crimes such as murders, suspicious deaths, robberies, and thefts.

He instructed the police to ensure that every piece of evidence is processed, including packing, labelling, sealing, and storage, strictly in accordance with established protocols. He emphasised the need to ensure there are no lapses in the “chain of custody” from the moment evidence is collected until it reaches the forensic laboratory.

Mr. Jagadeesh stressed the importance of scientific evidence in criminal investigations and stated that investigations could be strengthened by scientifically collecting and preserving evidence and subsequently sending it for forensic analysis.
