Akasa Air has launched four weekly direct flights between Mumbai and Hanoi, making the Vietnamese capital its seventh international destination. Hanoi is also the airline’s second destination in Southeast Asia after Phuket, expanding travel options between India and Vietnam.

Akasa Air on Friday began operations in Hanoi, Vietnam, with four weekly direct flights connecting the city with Mumbai. Hanoi is the airline’s seventh international destination and its second destination in Southeast Asia after Phuket.



The inaugural flight departed from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport at 5:35 am IST and arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi at 12 pm local time.



The new route aims to meet rising demand among Indian travellers visiting Vietnam and support growing tourism and business links between the two countries.

The flag-off ceremony at Mumbai airport was attended by Anand Srinivasan, co-founder and chief commercial officer of Akasa Air; Bhavin Joshi, co-founder and senior vice-president of strategy; Vietnam’s Ambassador to India Trinh Minh Manh; and Le Quang Bien, consul general of Vietnam.



Representatives from the Adani Group, the Central Industrial Security Force, customs and immigration departments also attended the event.



With the new service, travellers from Mumbai will have direct access to Hanoi, known for its cultural heritage, cuisine and scenic attractions. The route also gives passengers more options for travel between India and Vietnam.



Akasa Air has served more than 30 million passengers since starting operations in August 2022. The airline currently connects 29 domestic and seven international cities.



Its international network includes Doha, Jeddah, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait City, Phuket and Hanoi.



Akasa Air operates 43 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. It has placed an order for 226 Boeing 737 MAX planes powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines.



The airline said its aircraft offer features such as additional legroom and USB ports on most planes. Its onboard meal service, Café Akasa, includes several meal options, while other services include paid seat selection, extra seats and holiday packages.
