On Thursday, hundreds of schoolchildren were reportedly stuck in buses for over two hours, even on routes as short as 5 km, triggering anger among parents. The traffic police on Thursday said that civic works on SH 35 (Varthur-Sarjapur Road), coupled with white-topping works on Gunjur Club Road and poor infrastructure, had led to the situation.
On Friday, traffic personnel and residents identified spots requiring immediate attention along the stretch and began temporary filling and repair of damaged stretches.
The site conditions are being continuously monitored and relevant traffic diversions are being implemented, according to police sources.
