7 hurt after portion of Bihar bridge collapses, a worker’s leg was crushed

By Sohail Khan 10 September 2026, 2:43 pm

Seven people were injured – one person’s leg was crushed – after part of an under-construction bridge collapsed in Bihar’s Vaishali district on Thursday. The bridge is part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana – a Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways scheme to build and improve India’s road networks.

Four people sustained minor injuries. Three others are receiving treatment at Sadar Hospital, Superintendent of Police (Vaishali) Shubhank Mishra said. No casualties have been reported so far.

The collapse was likely due to a ‘technical glitch’ that happened while loading some material with the help of a girder launcher, police said. A detailed investigation will be carried out, the cops also said.
