Toxic advance booking so far

By Sunday night, Toxic had amassed Rs 23.91 crore via direct ticket sales across India and across dubbed versions. Leading the pack was its native Kannada version, earning Rs 10.92 crore in 2D, complemented by Rs 71.11 lakh in IMAX 2D and Rs 21.17 lakh in 4DX. It’s sold 2,55,684 tickets across 1,648 shows in the Kannada 2D format alone.

Out of these, the capital city of Bengaluru has registered the highest ticket sales, having earned over Rs 8.83 crore from 952 shows. Seventy percent of the total screens in Karnataka are already sold out or “almost full”, and the remaining 30% are “filling fast”, as per Sacnilk. But as Toxic nears release, its dubbed Hindi version is also challenging the supremacy of the native Kannada version.

The Hindi version earned Rs 10.84 crore by selling 3,18,953 tickets in the 2D format. Thus, the number of tickets sold in the Hindi version are over a lakh more than those sold in the native Kannada version, in the 2D format. The Hindi dominance is complemented by the IMAX 2D format further contributing Rs 27.87 lakh, the 4DX format adding Rs Rs 21.46 lakh, and the Dolby Cine format also chipping in Rs 64,700.

The dubbed Tamil version follows the Kannada and Hindi ones, even though it’s garnered less than 10% of either. It’s earned Rs 42.32 lakh from 25,947 shows. The dubbed Malayalam version comes next, having garnered Rs 18.36 lakh from 9,165 shows, followed by the dubbed Telugu version, at over Rs 13 lakh from 5,263 shows.

Toxic’s estimated box office opening

The total advance booking of Toxic in India so far adds up to Rs 23.91 crore through the sale of over 4.75 lakh tickets. When combined with the block booking, the figure goes up to Rs 32.52 crore. Given the current trajectory, trade estimates predict Yash’s film will easily earn in the range between Rs 100 crore and Rs 120 crore on the opening day at the worldwide box office.

In the event of that, Yash would become the only Indian actor besides Prabhas to score three consecutive Rs 100 crore openers at the global box office. He’s already established himself as a global star with Prashanth Neel’s period gangster franchise KGF, which amassed a combined sum of around Rs 1500 crore worldwide. It should be noted that Yash’s next release, Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of the Ramayana, is also being mounted as a global tentpole release this Diwali.

Co-written by Yash and Geethu Mohandas, Toxic is co-produced by K Venkat Narayana’s KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Also starring Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Akshay Oberoi among others, it’s slated to release in cinemas this Wednesday on August 26 on the occasion of Onam.
