Bhimili TDP MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao has asserted that the party would secure the Mayor’s post in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) elections with a massive majority.

Addressing the media at his camp office on Tuesday, Mr. Srinivas Rao said people of Visakhapatnam admire Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. “Even when the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) wave swept across the State in 2019, the people of Visakhapatnam stood firmly by Mr. Naidu,” he said and recalled that in the 2024 elections, Gajuwaka, Bhimili, and Pendurthi Assembly constituencies had delivered the first, second, and fourth-highest majorities in the State respectively.

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the government had propelled the development of Visakhapatnam in IT, tourism, and real estate sectors. He mentioned that grama sabhas in 79 village panchayats in Bhimili Rural, Anandapuram, Padmanabham, and Pendurthi mandals are passing resolutions, favouring the merger with the GVMC, noting that a similar decision had already been conveyed via a letter for three mandals in the Bhimili constituency.

Asked if his son, Ganta Raviteja, was in the race for the Mayor’s post, the senior leader said there is still plenty of time to select a candidate and that the party leadership’s decision would be binding.
