Professor at the Paari School of Business, SRM University-A.P., Satya Duvvuri, urged students on Thursday to take ownership of their career, dream big and continuously upgrade their skills to stay future-ready.

Addressing students of Andhra Loyola College (ALC) at a seminar on “Career Opportunities in Management and Technology-Future Ready: Opportunities Beyond Graduation,” organised by Future India Club (FIC), in association with SRM University-A.P., Mr. Duvvuri said students should not let uncertainty regarding their career choices, unemployment, AI-driven changes, communication challenges, or their background limit their ambitions.

Citing the journey of D. Seshagiri Rao, an ALC alumnus who studied B.Sc. during 1961-64 and later pursued M.A. and M.Ed. before becoming Director of Education, Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Duvvuri said extraordinary achievements could emerge from ordinary beginnings. He encouraged students to believe in their potential and persevere despite challenges.

Quoting Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, he said students should pursue dreams that motivate them to work until they are realised. He identified communication skills, a winning attitude and proficiency in emerging technologies as essential for career growth, while highlighting opportunities in higher education, entrepreneurship and emerging fields such as Agentic AI, sales and negotiation.

Mr. Duvvuri urged students to use their three years at ALC productively and dedicate the next 90 days to purposeful self-development and career preparation. He advised them to pursue careers aligned with their interests, never stop learning, explore new opportunities, and to avoid making money the sole objective of their careers.

Meanwhile, Assistant Director, SRM University-A.P., V. V. S. Pradeep, shared two stories to encourage innovative thinking. Citing the example of Bata shoe company, he explained how one salesperson saw the absence of demand as a problem, while another viewed it as an untapped market that could be developed by educating consumers.

In another example, Mr. Pradeep referred to the creation of the RedBus app, explaining how a difficulty in securing a bus ticket was transformed into an opportunity to develop a solution used by millions of travellers.

He urged students to think beyond conventional approaches, identify opportunities in everyday problems, and continuously update their knowledge and skills to remain future-ready.

ALC Principal Fr. Melchior and Head of the Department of BBA, P. Durga Pavani, were present at the seminar.
