Revenue Augmentation Committee holds consultative meeting with trade, industry stakeholders

The Revenue Augmentation Committee, constituted by the Tamil Nadu government, held a consultative meeting with representatives of trade and industry associations, public finance experts, multilateral agencies and academic institutions on Thursday.
According to an official release, the committee, chaired by eminent economist Montek Singh Ahluwalia, was constituted to suggest measures to augment the State’s own tax and non-tax revenues on a sustainable basis. It held a meeting with various stakeholders on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ahluwalia observed augmenting the State’s own tax and non-tax revenues called for the continued support of all stakeholders and that the ground-level insights and practical experience shared during the consultations were of great value to the committee. He further said the suggestions received would be examined by the committee along with the inputs already received from various revenue-generating departments of the State, the release said.
Mr. Ahluwalia also said suggestions received from the public through email would be duly considered as part of the committee’s ongoing deliberations, the release added.
