Oracle layoffs August 2026 update: Which employees are at ‘high risk’ as fresh cuts loom and what could the severance package look like?

    Synopsis

Oracle layoffs 2026: Oracle layoffs could be back, with some teams reportedly facing double-digit cuts as employees worry about job security.Managers have reportedly been asked to identify roles that could be eliminated in another restructuring round. Here’s what employees need to know about who may be at “high risk” and the potential Oracle severance package.

Oracle layoffs 2026: Company plans fresh job cuts this month after shedding 21,000 roles in a year, as AI data centre spending mounts.

Oracle's workforce reportedly fell from about 162,000 employees to 141,000 in fiscal 2026

Oracle employees are once again facing uncertainty over their jobs as reports point to another potential round of layoffs. The biggest questions are which employees are at “high risk” and what the Oracle severance package could look like if another wave of job cuts goes ahead.

The reported layoffs could affect some teams at double-digit percentages, while managers have reportedly been asked to identify roles that could be eliminated. Oracle has not officially confirmed the latest reported cuts.

Which Oracle employees are at ‘high risk’?

Reports suggest that managers have been asked to prepare lists of positions that could be eliminated, with some teams potentially facing cuts in the double digits.

Employees in areas that have faced reductions during previous restructuring rounds could be watching particularly closely. Earlier layoffs reportedly affected workers across Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Health, sales, customer success and NetSuite.

However, there is no official indication that employees in these divisions are automatically at risk in the reported new round. The exact number of employees who could be affected remains unclear.

What could the Oracle severance package include?

The potential Oracle severance package is another major concern for employees. During previous layoffs earlier this year in March, affected workers were told they would receive details about their severance after completing their separation paperwork.

Reports on Oracle's previous severance terms said employees received four weeks of base salary, plus one additional week for every year of service, capped at 26 weeks.

The amount therefore depends on factors such as an employee's salary and length of service.

Other employment benefits can also become important during layoffs, including restricted stock units and healthcare coverage. Previous Oracle layoffs reportedly resulted in disputes involving severance, RSUs and immigration support.

    Why is Oracle cutting jobs?

The reported layoffs come as Oracle continues to make major investments in artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure. The company has been spending heavily on data centres and AI capacity while also looking for ways to control costs and reorganise its workforce.

Oracle's workforce reportedly fell from about 162,000 employees to 141,000 in fiscal 2026. The company also recorded around $1.84 billion in severance and exit costs, according to reports citing its annual filing.

The contrast has drawn attention: Oracle is expanding its AI infrastructure while reducing parts of its workforce.

    Oracle's 6 a.m. layoff emails

Oracle's previous job cuts became widely discussed after employees reportedly received termination emails early in the morning.

One termination message said: “After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change.”

The email continued: “As a result, today is your last working day.” Reports said some employees received the emails at around 6 a.m., adding to anxiety surrounding the company's restructuring.

When could the next Oracle layoffs happen?

Reports have pointed to September 1, 2026, as a possible date for another round of job cuts, coinciding with the start of Oracle's second fiscal quarter.

However, this date has not been officially confirmed by Oracle.

For now, employees are left waiting for clarity over whether another round of Oracle layoffs will happen, which teams could be affected and what severance terms would apply.

The key questions remain: Which employees are at “high risk,” and how much could they receive in an Oracle severance package?
