India Poised To Emerge As Trusted Global Trade Partner: CII

India is well positioned to emerge as a trusted global trade partner as geopolitical shifts, evolving supply chains, technology and sustainability reshape international commerce, Mr Vir Advani, Chairman, CII Western Region and Chairman & Managing Director, Blue Star Ltd, said.

Addressing the 7th Edition of the CII Global Trade Scenario Summit, Advani said India's exports crossed US$860 billion in FY26, underscoring the country's growing role in global trade.

“Global trade is being reshaped by geopolitics, evolving supply chains, technology and sustainability. India is well positioned to emerge as a trusted global trade partner, with exports crossing US$860 billion in FY26. The way forward is resilience, innovation, diversification and stronger global partnerships,” he said.

The Summit also brought an international perspective to the discussions, with the participation of Mr Ming Foong Cheong, Consul General, Consulate-General of the Republic of Singapore; Mr Paul Murphy, Consul General, Australian Consulate-General in Mumbai; and Mr Graham Rouse, Consul-General, New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

The discussions highlighted the importance of predictable trade frameworks, comprehensive economic partnerships and deeper market integration.

Participants also emphasised the role of trade agreements in facilitating greater market access, attracting investment, enabling technology and services flows, and strengthening integration with global value chains.
