Ex Union Minister Smriti Irani made a comeback to the BJP’s top leadership Monday – returning as a National General Secretary in party chief Nitin Nabin’s organisational rejig. The shake-up will also see Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal become the party’s National Treasurer.

A notification released this morning also named ex-National General Secretary Ram Madhav on a list of 13 National Vice Presidents, of whom six are women, including ex-Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Rekha Verma.

And, in an important reshuffle, Amit Malviya was dropped as the IT Cell chief. He will be replaced by Deepak Mhaskey from Chhattisgarh. Anil Baluni remains the Media-in-Charge.

The party leadership rejig comes ahead of a long-expected cabinet reshuffle.
