I did not expect a tablet to replace my laptop, especially for work. A laptop still feels like the obvious choice for long writing sessions, research, emails and multitasking. But after spending more time working on tablets with proper keyboard accessories, I started leaving my laptop behind more often. The lighter design and instant access made a noticeable difference when working away from my desk.

The biggest change was realising how much of my daily workload does not actually require a traditional laptop. Writing, editing documents, attending meetings, browsing, taking notes and even some photo and video work can now be handled comfortably on a capable tablet. These are the tablets that convinced me they can genuinely replace a laptop for many users.

Why these tablets can replace a laptop

    • Keyboard support: A good keyboard cover turns the tablet into a much more familiar laptop-like workstation for writing, emails and documents.
    • Multitasking: Modern tablet operating systems now make it easier to work across multiple apps and windows, which is essential for research and productivity.
    • Performance: High-end chips can handle demanding tasks such as photo editing, video editing, large documents and multiple applications without feeling underpowered.
    • Portability: Tablets are generally lighter and easier to carry than laptops, making them useful when working from cafés, during travel or away from a desk.
    • Battery life: A tablet can often get through a substantial part of the working day without needing to stay connected to a charger.
    • Touch and stylus support: Writing notes, marking documents, sketching and editing images can feel more natural with a stylus than with a conventional laptop.
    • Entertainment: Unlike a traditional work laptop, a tablet also doubles as a convenient device for watching videos, reading and gaming after work.
