From a sewing machine to Rs 50 cr brand: Inside Parul Gulati’s 4 BHK duplex, Nish Hair journey

Actor and entrepreneur Parul Gulati recently opened the doors of her 4 BHK duplex in Mumbai to Archana Puran Singh, Parmeet Sethi and their sons. The home tour offered a glimpse into her living spaces, spacious terrace and work areas, while also revealing the journey behind the house – from her early days as an actor to building Nish Hair with her mother.
Gulati began her career as an actor, making her television debut with Yeh Pyaar Na Hoga Kam in 2009 and later appearing in shows and web series including Girls Hostel, The Raikar Case, Made in Heaven and Your Honor.
Alongside acting, she gradually built a business that would become an important part of her career. That business was Nish Hair, the hair extensions brand she launched in 2017. The company was valued at around Rs 50 crore when Gulati appeared on Shark Tank India Season 2 in 2023, while its 2024-2025 revenue stood at around Rs 34 crore.

Her home tour makes that journey particularly visible. From the sewing machine on which the first Nish Hair product was made, to the vision board carrying her next big target, several corners of the house are connected to her entrepreneurial journey.

From Facebook to Mumbai
Gulati’s journey to Mumbai began after she was selected for a television show through Facebook. She arrived in the city with her mother and eventually stayed back to pursue acting.
Recalling those early days during the home tour, she said, “I got selected on Facebook. For a TV show. That’s how I came to Mumbai. So my mother came along and we stayed here. We didn’t go back. I started with acting. Then I started a hair business. Mummy and I did it together in a living room. Our house was nearby. We lived in 1BHK, then 2BHK, then 3BHK, then offices, then this house.”

The sewing machine that started Nish Hair
One of the most personal moments of the tour comes when Gulati shows Archana and Parmeet an old sewing machine, which she has preserved from the early days of her business.
“This is a sewing machine. The first Nish hair was made on this. We started on this.”

What began with Gulati and her mother working from their living room eventually grew into a much larger business. Nish Hair recorded around Rs 34 crore in revenue in FY25, compared with around Rs 14 crore in FY24. Its profit after tax was around Rs 8.4 crore.
During the home tour, she shows her vision board and the notes written on her bathroom mirror. Explaining her habit of putting her goals down in writing, she said, “I like writing things down. So this bathroom mirror has this to-do list. It is a Rs 100 crore plan.”
